As a leading reputable applied university in Vietnam, consistently honored for many consecutive years as a “champion” in international competitions, since 2019, Lac Hong University (LHU) has been the first private university in Vietnam to achieve international quality accreditation under AUN-QA (ASEAN University Network – Quality Assurance). In particular, the Business Administration program of The Faculty of Administration International Economics (FAIE) was accredited to AUN-QA standards in 2021. Building on that success, from the end of 2023 until now, FAIE has developed a plan to prepare the Self-Assessment Report in accordance with AUN-QA standards for the Tourism and Travel Management program. By July 2024, the report had been submitted to AUN-QA. To prepare for the on-site assessment scheduled for September, FAIE organized presentations on the accreditation standards.

On the morning of 5 August 2024, MB Vu Duc Cuong – in charge of Standard 3 – presented the contents of this standard. Accordingly, the University’s educational philosophy is Leadership – Humanity – Integrity. The program has incorporated this spirit into its training objectives, thereby developing learning outcomes, proposing courses, and designing detailed syllabi for teaching and learning activities. Each course and each lesson employs diverse teaching methods to achieve the expected learning outcomes. In addition, the University and FAIE consistently focus on organizing and developing a positive learning environment for students.
For courses requiring extensive practical hours, FAIE has constructed a dedicated building that includes practice rooms and specialized practice areas such as a travel company/enterprise, a reception and housekeeping area of a 3-star standard hotel, restaurant operations practice rooms, bar practice rooms, etc., all equipped according to professional standards so that students can engage in practical learning directly on campus.

Specialized competitions, notably the “Talented Tourism Students” competition, provide a platform for students to contribute innovative tourism ideas and programs for localities, which are evaluated by experts working in tourism associations and travel companies. Through these activities, students can apply specialized knowledge learned in class to real-life contexts and gain a clearer understanding of how to develop a comprehensive tourism program.
Shortened Study Duration for Students
A comparison between LHU’s Tourism and Travel Management curriculum and those of other universities shows similarities in the allocation of credit hours among knowledge blocks. However, compared to other institutions, LHU’s program requires fewer credits, offers a greater number of elective courses, and has a shorter training duration. This creates favorable conditions for students to develop their strengths and talents while also providing opportunities for earlier employment.
The Curriculum Is Closely Associated with Numerous Practical Activities
To ensure flexibility and accommodate individual preferences and strengths, the Tourism and Travel Management curriculum includes elective courses and preferred subjects within supporting and specialized modules. Specifically, in Semester 3, Semester 4, Semester 5, and Semester 6, students have the right to select courses of their interest to register for study, thereby fostering their strengths and passions.
