The Innovative Design Thinking Village (IDTV) was officially launched at TECHFEST 2022 on 4 August. The mission of IDTV is to inspire and connect stakeholders within the Startup Ecosystem, including enterprises, researchers, domain experts, coaches, investors, and others. To support large-scale development for young people, the “Design Thinking Camp” competition has officially opened for registration. The “Design Thinking Camp” – designed for young people and startups nationwide – is organized by Innovative Design Thinking Village (IDTV), Nguyen Tat Thanh University, NSSC, VSMA, and other startup support organizations, promising new opportunities for those passionate about creativity and entrepreneurship.

A Design Thinking process consists of five steps: Empathize – Define problem – Ideate – Prototype – Test. By implementing these five steps, young participants can design specific and feasible solutions to address the challenges faced by their enterprises. “Design Thinking Camp” is structured to help young people and startups maximize their creativity and critical thinking. The competition includes two components: a training bootcamp and a startup idea competition based on the Design Thinking methodology. The activities of the competition contribute to fostering the development of Vietnam’s startup ecosystem, from the idea formation stage while students are still at university, to early-stage startups and SMEs beginning their business journey.

At the competition, Lac Hong University was honored to have PhD Nguyen Van Tan – Member of the National Innovative Startup Advisory Council (VSMA); Member of the Executive Committee of the Southern Startup Advisory and Support Council; Head of the Innovative Startup Division at LHU; Dean of FAIE at LHU – serve as a Jury Member.

Looking back over the years, Lac Hong University can be regarded as a pioneering institution in entrepreneurship activities within Dong Nai Province. Specifically, PhD Nguyen Van Tan proposed the establishment of the Startup Club at Lac Hong University and the development of a Coworking Space, creating favorable conditions for building the startup ecosystem at LHU. Among the notable achievements beyond the University’s scope, extending to regional and national levels, are: First Prize and Third Prize at the Southern Regional Startup Competition 2017; Second Prize at the National Startup Competition organized by VCCI in 2017; and most recently, Second Prize at the Startup Competition organized by the Ministry of Education and Training in 2022.
These achievements reflect Lac Hong University’s continuous efforts in promoting entrepreneurship activities and movements, serving as a solid foundation and springboard for students to maintain and further develop future successes. Through this, students are equipped with a different mindset—the mindset of being self-directed and entrepreneurial.
