In order to help Economic Law students gain deeper practical insight into the perspectives and psychology of defendants at court hearings, and at the same time reinforce the knowledge they have learned and are studying in procedural law courses while equipping themselves with additional understanding for participation in legal proceedings, the Economic Law major recently organized a seminar titled: Exploring the Psychology of Defendants at Court Hearings – “Finding the Defendants’ Psychology at a Court.”

Attending the seminar:
On behalf of FAIE:
PhD Nguyen Van Tan – Head of FAIE
MB Ta Thi Thanh Huong – Vice Head of FAIE
Along with all homeroom lecturers/academic advisors, lecturers, staff members, and more than 100 students of FAIE.

Guest speaker:
Judge Nguyen Van Thanh – Chief Judge of the Criminal Court – People’s Court of Dong Nai Province.

At the seminar, the speaker, Judge Nguyen Van Thanh – Chief Judge of the Criminal Court – People’s Court of Dong Nai Province, with many years of experience working in the Court, helped students gain further understanding of defendants’ psychology, as well as their behaviors, thoughts, and body language displayed during court proceedings. This contributed to strengthening students’ skills, experience, and practical exposure while they are still studying at the University. Beyond classroom knowledge, extracurricular activities such as this provide opportunities for students to explore additional skills required in real working environments. These experiences serve as valuable preparation for their future careers.

At the conclusion of the programme, in an interview, student Q (name withheld) – a third-year Economic Law student – shared: “I find the programme very beneficial. Through it, I gained new knowledge about psychology in court, as well as additional skills beyond what we study at the University. I also learned about the skills and experience of a Judge in court, which makes my learning process more practical. I hope the Major will organize more extracurricular programmes like this to enhance learning experiences at the University and further strengthen practical knowledge for students. I feel very satisfied participating in this programme.”
